Nations #10 Southlake Carroll Remains Perfect

Southlake Carroll put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-7 win over the Northwest Texans. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Dragons just coasted through the last quarter.

Southlake Carroll had a senior duo take command as Davis Penn rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries and Angelo Renda threw for 321 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes. Renda's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 305 passing yards. Southlake Carroll's leading receiver Brock Boyd was Renda's top target yet again, picking up 104 receiving yards and one score.

Southlake Carroll was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

One reason for the win was Southlake Carroll's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Crawford Taylor with two. Marcus Brouse got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Southlake Carroll's record is now 8-0. As for Northwest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Southlake Carroll will face off against Bell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons will be up against the Blue Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northwest, they will welcome Byron Nelson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
